For the most part the Childress name is used even where the name is usually spelled Childers, this is just to make it easier to find in the names index. So first check the name you are looking for under Childress, and then if you didn't find it there, try Childers. ---
Restoring Our Hereditary Indigenous Nations - (work in progress) Arrangement by Indigenous ancestral language family:
(A) Algonkian; (I) Iroquois; (S) Eastern Sioux;
Asterisk * after the family name denotes matrilineal descendancy from an Indigenous (Native
American - American Indian) woman, which is the traditional way of doing things: "You are what your
mother is". The child of an "Indian" woman, inherits their nation and clan or totem from their
mothers, not their fathers; this is a birthright by tradition. (190529)
Plus sign + after the family name denotes someone who is not related to our family. (190723)
Fnu = First Name Unknown; Mnu = Maiden Name Unknown, Lnu = Last Name Unknown
Women appear with their Maiden Name, where this is unknown, Mnu + Married Name

As we all work to correct this error, please use anything found on the internet with great caution, feel free to use the information here to find direction for your own research but always use care, and check back for updates.
